Get Your Cash Advance Online
Up to $5,000 with a simple online form
California payday loans are limited to $300, including the fee. This means the total amount you repay cannot exceed $300. You can apply through Superb Cash Advance online or at one of our California locations, with no hard credit check to get started.
The fee can be up to 15% of the check amount. At the maximum, you receive $255 in cash and repay $300, including a $45 fee. The loan is generally due on your next payday and cannot exceed 31 days.
California does not allow rollovers, and you can have only one payday loan with the same lender at a time.
If you pre-qualify, you'll receive a free, no-obligation loan estimate showing your amount, fee, and repayment terms before you decide. You can apply online or find your nearest California location below.
In California a payday loan is also called a deferred deposit transaction. You write the lender a check for what you borrow plus the fee, and the lender holds it until your due date. That is usually your next payday, about two weeks out and never more than 31 days.
California caps that check at $300, so $300 is the most you repay. The fee comes out of that, so at the maximum you receive about $255 in cash.
Every payday lender must be licensed by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, and you can verify any lender before you sign.
| Cash you receive | Fee | Total you repay | Term | APR |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $85 | $15 | $100 | About 14 days | About 460% |
| $170 | $30 | $200 | About 14 days | About 460% |
| $255 | $45 | $300 | About 14 days | About 460% |
Say you write a $300 check, the most California allows. The fee is $45, so you receive about $255 today and repay $300 on your due date.
That fee works out to about a 460% APR, but the number looks high only because it annualizes a two-week cost. What you actually pay is the $45 fee.

Are payday loans legal in California?
Yes. Payday loans, which California law calls deferred deposit transactions, are legal and regulated by the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation.
Does California have a payday loan database?
No. Unlike some states, California does not have a statewide payday loan database.
The one-loan-at-a-time rule is enforced through state licensing and each lender's own records, not a central system.
Can a California payday lender give me extra time to pay?
Yes, and it cannot cost you a cent. Under California Financial Code section 23036, a lender may agree to an extension or a payment plan. It may not charge any fee for that.
A lender does not have to agree, so ask Superb Cash Advance before your due date. An extension is not a rollover, which is a new loan with a new fee, and California bars those.
Can a California payday lender add a late fee?
No. If your payment does not clear, California allows a single returned-check fee and nothing else. There is no late fee, and no second fee if the check goes through again and fails.
Your own bank may still charge you for the bounced payment, and that charge comes from your bank, not from us. California Financial Code section 23036 sets the lender's limit.
Can I have two payday loans at the same time in California?
Not from us while your first loan is open, and never by using one loan to pay off another. California Financial Code section 23037 bars that second move outright.
A different lender is not blocked by state law, since California sets no combined limit across lenders. We still look at your income and whether you can repay on your next payday.
Does my loan agreement have to be in the language I speak?
In California, yes. If you and the lender talk mainly in Spanish, or in another language, state law requires the notice and the written agreement to be in that same language. The rule is in California Financial Code section 23035, and it also sets a minimum type size.
Read the amount, the fee, and the due date in the language you know best before you sign. Ask for that copy at any of our California locations.
Is there a credit check to get a loan?
Getting a quote uses only a soft credit inquiry, so it does not affect your credit score.
If your loan is approved, a hard credit inquiry may be completed, and national databases may be checked before funding, so there is no hard credit check just to request a loan.
* Funding times are estimates and can vary depending on your bank and when your application is approved. Same-day funding is not guaranteed.
